Duct Repair and Duct Sealing

In homes with forced-air heating and cooling systems, ducts are used to distribute conditioned air through the home. In a typical home about 20 percent of the air that moves through the duct system is lost due to leaks, holes, and poorly connected ducts. The result is higher utility bills and difficulty keeping the house comfortable, no matter what the thermostat is set on.

How do you know that your home has poorly performing ducts?

* you have high summer and winter utility bills;

* you have rooms that are difficult to heat and cool;

*you have stuffy rooms that never seem to feel comfortable;

* you find tangled or kinked flexible ducts in your system;

High Utility Bills? Stuffy Rooms? Dusty House? It could be your ducts?

By repairing or replacing damaged ducts you can improve comfort in your home, enhance indoor air quality, promote safety and save money on your utility bills!

Save Valuable $$$

Sealing ducts increases efficiency, lowers your energy bills, and can often pay for itself in energy savings.  If you're planning to install new heating and cooling equipment, a well designed and sealed duct system may allow you to downsize to a smaller, less costly heating and cooling system that will provide better de-humidification for your home.

At Duncan Heating and Air Services We: * Inspect the duct system, including the attic, crawl space, garage and basement.* Evaluate the system's supply and return balance. Many systems have air returns that are too small. * Repair damaged and disconnected ducts and straighten out flexible ducts that are tangled or crushed. * Seal all leaks and connections with mastic or metal tape. * Insulate ducts in unconditioned areas with duct insulation that carries an R- value of 6 or higher. * Include a new filter as part of any duct system improvement. * Evaluate air flow after repairs are completed.
